Are they or aren't they? Drake always talks about his love for Nicki Minaj, but whether it's just an inside joke or something more serious, only they know.

Their chemistry in the studio, however, is undeniable. "It's kind of like a little joke I think that they play with each other," Toronto producer T-Minus told MTV News. "I really don't know what goes on behind closed doors with that. Definitely it could be something, but I personally don't even know what goes on."

Aside from their current Take Care collaboration, "Make Me Proud," T-Minus also produced last year's Nicki/Drake duet "Moment 4 Life," so he's a bit of an authority on the pair's in-studio magic. "Musically they go really well together. I think they're a great contribution to Young Money. The chemistry is great," he told MTV News.

Drizzy has never been shy about his admiration for his curvy Young Money labelmate. On his 2010 track "Miss Me," Drake famously rapped, "I love Nicki Minaj, I told her I'd admit it/ I hope one day we get married just to say we f---in' did it." A few months later, he playfully announced via Twitter that he and Minaj had gotten married.

Maybe it was in those tweets that Drake found inspiration for his latest single. He wrote, "Baby I am never scared. PROUD is more the word I would use," before making the faux wedding announcement. Whatever the case, a year and two months later we get "Make Me Proud."

"Whenever I make songs surrounding women, I always try to find refreshing stances to take, as opposed to just like, Oh, you're sexy or Oh, I want you. The song, it really came up in passing conversation, just being like, I'm proud of you," Drake told MTV News back in October when he first dropped the single.

In order to bring his idea to life musically, the OVO general called on T-Minus. "Drake was looking for a record to put Nicki on for Take Care and we were debating about a lot of different records that we had," the producer said. "He was like, 'I want something that has a lot of energy, it sounds fast, but it's got a slow tempo.' "

After their powwow, "Make Me Proud" came together in no time. "It maybe took like 30 minutes. I sent it to him and he was like, OK, it's a wrap, I got this," T-Minus explained. "It took him like a day [to finish]. It was the craziest thing ever."
